Episcopal Diocese Seeks Return of Property

On Monday February 8, the Episcopal Diocese of San Joaquin commenced a new round of litigation to return a number parish Churches that are currently occupied by former members of The Episcopal Church who have sought to affiliate with a different denomination.

Court Determines that Bishop Lamb is the Bishop of the Diocese

On July 23, 2009, the Diocese received an order issued by the Superior Court of Fresno County, California, sustaining the position of the Church and the Diocese that the Rt. Rev. Jerry Lamb is the Bishop of the Diocese and the officeholder of the Diocesan corporations, and that former Bishop John-David Schofield is no longer the Bishop and has no claim to any of the corporate or ecclesiastical offices of the Diocese.

Fresno Superior Court, State of CaliforniaThe Diocese’s motion for summary adjudication on the first cause of action for declaratory relief seeking judgment establishing Bishop Lamb as the incumbent of the Corp. Sole was argued Wednesday, May 6 in Court along with the Diocese’s demurrer to the cross-complaint.
