Episcopal Gold
50 Years of Presence - 50 Years of Promise
50TH Annual Convention
Episcopal Diocese of San Joaquin
Modesto, California
October 23 - 25, 2009
Episcopal Gold is the name given the annual convention of the Episcopal Diocese of San Joaquin to be held at St. Paul's in Modesto. In addition to a time for the business of an annual convention, the weekend will be one of worship, planning, fellowship, celebration and learning.
The 16-member planning team, headed by Faye Choate of St. Anne's Stockton, is joyfully working on details of the weekend. Convention workshops are scheduled for Friday evening,Saturday morning, and Sunday morning. We are planning not only for this convention, but also for additionalopportunities for training throughout the coming year. Topics we would like to cover include Lay Ministries,Parish Planning, Musical Styles for Worship, Lay Leadership/Christian Formation, Wellness, Liturgy, Educational Programs for All Ages, the Anglican Rosary, and Reconciliation. Other topics that individuals have to offer will be considered. Allocated time for workshops will be 75 to 90 minutes.
If you have a particular expertise or interest to share and would like to be considered for workshops at the diocesan convention, please contact Beryl Simkins at 209-785-1373, or by e-mail at bjsim@caltel.com. We also would like to develop a cadre of presenters/facilitators who can be called upon throughout the year as more lay workshops are planned. You can download The Call for Presentations form here.
We need to hear from you as soon as possible, but must have a response by July 31, 2009.
We will be providing more details regarding Convention as they are available.
